Hirschmann BRS30-08042T2T-STCY99HHSESXX.X.XX is the BRS30-12TX configuration in the Hirschmann BOBCAT range. A twelve-port copper layout does not mean twelve Gigabit ports. This BRS30 configuration provides eight 10/100BASE-TX connections and four 10/100/1000BASE-TX connections, allowing a purchaser to distinguish the local device ports from the higher-speed copper links when planning an industrial cabinet network.
Assign the higher-speed ports deliberately
Prepare a port schedule that separates the eight Fast Ethernet connections from the four Gigabit-capable connections. Record which links connect controllers, operator interfaces or other switches. The required traffic pattern and spare capacity should determine the allocation; do not expect a Fast Ethernet endpoint to gain Gigabit speed from its upstream link.
